Prek Mishra, BA

Clinical Professional Counseling Trainee

Welcome from Prek Mishra BA (he/him/his)

Prek holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology with Honours and minored in Biology and Sociology and Anthropology from Ashoka University in India. He is currently pursuing his Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Johns Hopkins University. He is a member of the Chi Sigma Iota Honours Society in the latter.

Prek is a transmasculine and queer person of colour and often engages in social justice, advocacy, and volunteering in this area. His current research work on Anti-Asian sentiment, his role as a facilitator of the Antiracism Coalition at the School of Education (Johns Hopkins University), and his volunteer and advocacy work against Anti-Trans bills on social media platforms equips him with experience to work with a diverse range of clients. Given his own lived experience and his inclination to work with marginalized populations, his counseling approach amalgamates post-modern approaches like queer and trans affirmative, solution focussed, and narrative therapies with humanistic and existential approaches. Prek would like to focus on working with a diverse population including queer and trans adolescents and young adults, attachment patterns, trauma, body image issues (including both dysphoria and dysmorphia), and mood disorders.

Prek was born in Mozambique and raised in India. He loves spending time with his chosen family back in India and always has at least one book in his backpack.
